The Hunger Task Force would like to recognize the following:
For 2010 our extra effort awards go to...
Volunteer of the year: Jim Rouse
Jim is a dedicated volunteer who helps with our food pick-ups. He is always a phone call away and willing to drive our refrigerated truck on short notice. Jim has been working with us for the last year and hopefully for many more! The Hunger Task Force could not survive without Jim's efforts. Thank you, Jim, for your service.
Garden Volunteer of the year: Colleen Sowa
Colleen has spent numerous hours in the Kane Street Community Garden. She has shared cooking demonstrations and has brought many family members with her to volunteer and enjoy the experience. Check out the pictures of her grandchildren on FACEBOOK. Colleen, we would be lost without your commitment at the garden!
The Val Chilsen Award: Rod Tisthammer
Rod has been and
continues to be a huge advocate for hunger. His
accomplishments and successes continue to bring awareness to the hunger
issue in our community. Rod prepares and serves meals at
Our Savior's Lutheran Church "Come For Supper" on Tuesday
evenings. He was also instrumental in beginning the
Share the Bounty program, a cooperative effort encouraging
customers at area farmer's markets to buy locally and donate
on site. His concern for the low-income in our
community is appreciated and we are honored to work with him!
Organization of the Year:
A.L.M. Charities
Our choice for Organization of the Year is a group that has been active in the La Crosse area for years. One of their goals is to "Do the right thing" and they certainly do that by supporting many local non-profits. We appreciate their extra efforts and commitment in bringing awareness of hunger issues to our community!
